Covered Markets of Antakya

In downtown Antakya, there was a large number of covered markets (kapalı çarşısı). Apparently, the temperature gets up to 52C (126F) in the summer so blocking the sun becomes a necessity. These markets differ little from the markets in other cities save for the roofs that have been installed over the streets.
