Baboons and Cape Point

Cape Town is interesting in that almost everything is closed on Sundays, so I went on a tour of Cape Point. Cape Point is almost the most southern spot on the african continent (southernmost point is Cape Agulhas) and is about 80km from the central business district of Cape Town. Below is a picture of the entrance to the trail that leads up to the point. Notice the sign that says 'Baboons are dangerous and attracted by food', this place was infested with them. Chacma Baboons were just freely running around everywhere and will agressive attempt to take any food that you may be carrying, the only deterent is a man walking around with a large stick.

Baboons hanging out on the side of the road:

The actual point. I did not make it out there, but I did get a nice picture:

Baboon in search of food:

When the baboons see this guy they run the other way, everyone else they have no problem coming directly up to. Since the baboons can essentially climb over any fence, this is the only deterent that exists against baboons 'assualting' the pedestrians.
