Far Away

One thing about South Africa is that it is far away from everywhere. As noted below, Chicago is 13662km (8490 miles) from Cape Town. It seems like everything (except for Windhoek, which is still a 2 hour flight) is more than 10 hours away. If a flight existed from Detroit, this is the path it would take. Some airplanes, such as the A340-500, would actually be able to fly this non-stop.
